The Winner Takes It All, is the eleventh episode of Season One of Glee Wiki: Under The Spotlight. It is written by DrewlovesKuinn.
Plot[]
With the play barely days away, Kerwin needs to make sure his kids know how to sing properly in a group smaller than the massive group New Directions has become. In order to do so, he sets them the challenge of arguably one of the most successful bands of all time: ABBA. Romance arises and tensions tighten. Jealously bursts and love blossoms. In some ways, New Directions is more like ABBA than you'd think.
Episode[]
Kerwin Dean. Show choir director, councillor to Glee Club students and full time music teacher. His life, being this busy, often left little time for Kerwin to have alone time, or actually have any time not involving school. Even since Kerwin was a little boy, he's had nothing but passion for music. Shame that it ended up wasted and he became a sad, lonely high school teacher. Then again, if he hadn't failed, some of the Glee kids wouldn't have succeeded. But, times are tough, and Kerwin knows that Sasha will be cutting teachers left, right and centre. Truth is, he's terrified for his job, for his livelihood. Sitting alone at night in the cold, dark, central heating lacking, condo that he barely manages the rent for, he's sure to be sad. And he's sure to be lonely. Because, he's never had a true friend. Well, yeah, he had one girlfriend back in Middle School that treated him like crap and only went out with him to get better grades. But when Kerwin Dean gets really upset, and gets really depressed, there's only one thing that can pull him out of his funk. It's the right-angled, four-cornered, two male-two female group that took the world by storm. Every time he feels this way, he pulls out his old, half broken, used-to-be-silver-but-it's-so-damaged-it-looks-black stereo, and puts in his favourite CD. The greatest hits of...
“ABBA!” exclaimed Kerwin, as he finished writing the four letters on the board. Yes, Kerwin had always a love for ABBA! He loved the slow songs, like Fernando. He loved the fast ones, like Voules-Vouz. And he especially loved the deep, meaningful ones. The ones he couldn't wait to share with a whole new generation of ABBA fans. Or at least, so Kerwin thought. Maybe the New Directions weren't exactly welcoming of the idea. Okay, some were, like the ones who take every challenge well, but Kerwin could tell in their eyes that they didn't want it. He knew he had to make it more modern... but how?
“I for one, love ABBA. They're so dynamic, they can pull off almost any kind of number!” exclaimed Naomi, clapping her hands, “Bravo, Mr. Dean, bravo.”
“Yeah, I agree. I mean, ABBA had their moments and their... lesser moments, but over the long haul they were still one of the greatest bands ever!” called out Danny, accepting his challenge with open arms. Danny secretly loved ABBA... his favourite movie ever was Mamma Mia! Meryl Streep is an amazing actress.
“Bah, please. As if the Trae-Rebel-Diva-God-Of-This-Century wants anythin' to do with an old timies horror show.” remarked Trae, rolling his eyes. Gareth, who was sitting next to Trae, gazed longingly into his eyes. His hand slowly snaked across the gap between them and rested on Trae's forearm, before slowly making it's way down to Trae's hand; which Gareth grasped tightly. Gareth actually loved ABBA, and he'd be damned if he didn't get Trae to love it too by the end of the week. Gareth's head fell to Trae's shoulder, his hair rubbing against Trae's neck. Trae's arm wrapped round Gareth's shoulder and hugged him tightly.
“I actually love ABBA...” whispered Gareth, into Trae's ear. The sentence was so simple, so platonic, so bland. But the way it rolled off Gareth's tongue let Trae know that it was more than a simple sentence, as Gareth's voice was sultry and passion filled. Trae shivered, his body covering with goosebumps.
“Boo, ABBA! Why that? Can't we do something more... masculine?” asked Skyler.
“O. M. G. Why have we taken so long to do ABBA? We should be doing ABBA now! Stat!” shouted Luke. Juan eyeballed him and whispered something to him, while lightly kicking the back of his chair. Luke cleared his throat, and in a much more manly and lower voice than before spoke again, “I mean... Yes, ABBA is definitely a good choice, good idea Mr. Dean.” Hayley grinned at Luke and gave him a light punch in the arm.
“Yeah, ABBA all the way.” said Hayley, winking at Luke. He chuckled and Kerwin sighed, happy and sad at the same time that so many people loved ABBA, but so many people hated ABBA. How could anyone hate ABBA? They were, and still are, one of the most amazing bands ever to form!? Kerwin pinched the bridge of his nose, and contemplated his next move. He wasn't changing the week's lesson, no way! But there had to be something he could do to improve the atmosphere? Not that anything good was going on in the lives of New Directions. Then, suddenly, it hit Kerwin. The musical! Auditions had been done for a week now, and after some serious, serious convincing, the teacher had managed to get each member of New Directions to audition. Some were good, some were bad. But, Kerwin had to make the hard choices. Not to mention, it was a school show, so he can't exactly give all the roles to the New Directions. That would just seem like favouritism... even though in the back of his mind, he knows that all the kids in Glee Club are better than anyone else in this school.
“Moulin Rouge!” shouted Kerwin.
“Yes, sir, you told us about the school play... three weeks ago?” commented Jade, smiling and sitting next to Drew. The two grinned at each other. Drew and Jade (and Luke, respectively) had their parts down! Of course they would own the two main parts – Christian and Satine. They were just born to play those roles! Kerwin should just give them the parts already; Jade was the only person who could play Drew's Satine, and Drew was the only person who could play Jade's Christian. It was just meant to be! Jade was craaaaazy about Moulin Rouge. When she'd first heard about the movie and the fact Nicole Kidman, her spirit animal, of course, had a main part; she just had to buy it! And boy, she wasn't disappointed. Those sappy loved scenes mixed in with an (un)healthy amount of tragedy, Jade was in heaven! Since then, it's always been her dream to play the main role. To give homage to Nicole Kidman, who, by as far as Jade was concerned, was the greatest actress alive. Drew, however, wasn't exactly crazy about theatre, to be honest with himself, he was more of a write the scenes and direct someone else acting them. He didn't like having a camera on him, or an audience to watch him act. Singing? Bah, he could do that in front of thousands, but acting? He'd be dead. And as a bonus, he'd only ever seen Moulin Rouge once: At a sleepover with Jade in middle school. Yeah, he'd enjoyed the film, but he didn't really understand it. But, if Jade wanted to pursue the main role, and she needed a friend to help her, he'd help her no matter the consequences. And considering he's the best singer in Glee club, (no, he's not even bragging, it's scientifically proven, bitches) why wouldn't he help his best friend in need? Of course he would. But, if he got the main part... how in hell was he going to act in front of the whole school? He could fake an illness? Stay off school? But, Drew could never do that to Jade... could he? No. He couldn't. He mustn’t think that way. Jade is his best friend, the best of all best friends that have ever been best friends. Drew would die for her, he has to help her.
Luke, however, was in love with the story of Moulin Rouge. It was perfect... just perfect. It was beautiful, elegant, and just flawless in every way. But he knew when he auditioned with those songs from Rocky Horror with Jade and Drew, both of his partners wanted and were auditioning for the main roles. He'd be lucky if he got an extras part, and that tore him up. Just... why did Drew have to get everything in Glee club? Yes, he was one of the best- if not the best- singer in there, but still, why doesn't he let someone else have a try? Why couldn't Luke get the main role for once... Even Silence week failed, because the majority of songs were dedicated to him!
And that's not even mentioning Lena and Perry's feud over parts. Perry wanted this part, she needed this part. Since she'd been kicked off the cheerios and quit Glee club, her popularity had spiralled downwards, and she ended up skipping about two weeks of school it got that bad. All she had left was Juan, and she lost him too... and when she got him back... there was definitely something wrong with him. She was supposed to feel love when she kissed him, but now she felt nothing apart from hatred and coldness. She had no feelings for him... but she couldn't break up with him. She was too scared to. How could Lena try and steal this role from her? Pfft, it doesn't matter that she's never seen the movie or never understood the story, she's still perfect for every character for every story and every movie and every show. Perry Scott is just a perfect being, in her mind. At least.
Lena, however, needs this role to get closer to Jade. Jade obviously is straight, and is obviously not looking for love since her scene with Drew. Plus, Lena felt the sparks during Sex on Fire the other week, and is actually still surprised Jade went along with it. Not that it would matter, like she knew, Jade was straight. And if by any miracle Jade was into girls, as if Lena would be her choice. Lena knows she doesn't look like other girls, and she knows she isn't blonde like Gina or 'pretty' like Perry and Gauri. She's not one of those girls who gets flirted with or complimented; and she's grown to accept that. But still, it would feel good for one thing in her life to go right. Lena really wants this, and she really needs this.
And Emma... Emma knew her audition was amazing. That song was a freakin' powerhouse, and she brought it, served it, cleaned it up and had desert ready before anyone else had even started preparing for their auditions. This girl knows she's getting in, she doesn't even have to worry. The only thing she would or could have to worry about is having to act in love with Luke. Ha, act. She still is, so it wouldn’t be that hard, surely. But it could potentially still hurt to see him acting in love with another girl...
“And, I have picked out the roles!” said Kerwin, clapping his hands and grinning. Jade tensed, and clutched Drew's hand. Luke bit his lip nervously. Perry flipped her hair behind her ear, knowing she's perfect, which caused Lena to scowl and fold her arms. Emma just grinned.
“First of all, our Satine... Jade Richman!” Jade clapped and grabbed Drew's hands, squealing and giggling. She was so happy, she got the main role! This was her acting dream!
“Our Christian... Luke Hensley!” Jade's eyes widened, Drew smiled politely at Luke, and then at Jade. It didn't bother Drew he didn't get the main part. Luke, however, was fangirling insanely inside. He kept a cool, straight face, but ohmygod he got the main part.
“Nini Legs-in-the-Air... Hayley Lovejoy!” Perry's jaw fell open in a comical 'o'. Lena folded her arms and huffed.
“Did she even audition!?” shouted Perry, “I deserve that role! Not home wrecker over there!” she exclaimed, her hands clutching at her own hair in a rage.
“Sit down, Perry!” shouted Kerwin, and she did so. Perry didn't get the role, Lena didn't get the role. Hayley got the role! She didn't even audition for that part! It sent Perry into a rage, and Lena was silently crying inside. She just needed some comfort.
“Okay, then. I'll put this list,” he gestured to a piece of paper he was holding, “outside the choir room. It's got all the roles. If anyone wants to go look, feel free.” said Kerwin, walking outside and placing it up on the wall with a thumbtack. He walked back in, and gestured to the board.
“ABBA. Think about it, okay?” the bell rang, and the students began to leave. At the end, only Drew, Jade and Lena remained. Lena picked up her messenger bag and slung it over her shoulder, walking out the door when she heard a clip of Drew and Jade's conversation.
“...you didn't get the main part!” exclaimed Jade.
“I know, I know... it's okay... you'll have my support either way.” said Drew, hugging her closely. Lena turned away, and walked out of the room. She still doesn't have anyone, she never will. She glanced at the cast list, and looking back on it, she probably shouldn't have. Because she isn't even in the freaking show! Goddamnit! Her only consolation being that Perry isn't either. Gosh, she doesn't even have a best friend. What cheerio, what popular girl, doesn't have any friends? She just feels like crap all the time. Jade and Drew then leave the room, leaving only Kerwin to play a small piece to himself on the piano. The tune is slow, and he hums along to it. Suddenly, he has an idea. He gets up his email, and emails the kids' school accounts, telling them they will all be attending a practise for Moulin Rouge tomorrow, whether they are in the show or not. He smiles to himself, and he turns out the lights while leaving the room. Content with himself for the first time in a long time.

“All right! Booty camp, people! If we want to win Regionals, and as an added bonus, help out those in our club who have main parts in the school show perfect their performance, because those who are not casted will be... Back up dancers!” announced Kerwin. Trying to rile up the kids with such a undesirable occupation wasn't exactly the easiest job. It's not his fault that there are so many talented people in one group. Plus, it'll look like favouritism if everyone in his club gets a part. So, Kerwin's ended up casting two 'randomers.' Will Hynes and Max Chasson, two students who play football. Not really important people in the school body, but talented nonetheless. They'd performed with a duet, a simple song from an ancient Musical. Even music-savvy Kerwin didn't know what musical it was from. He let them in, anyway. Hopefully it won't ruin his musical. Ha, it already sucks. It's directed by him! When he told the kids his dream the other week, he just hoped no one called him out for the flop he was, because he'd never made it. Oh well...
“Are you kidding me,” said Perry, folding her arms, “I ain't no Kelly Rowland! I ain't gonna be no backup dancer!”
“Deal with it, Perry. You'll get your chance to shine some other day.” said Hayley as she went up on her tiptoes and spun round in a circle.
“Shut it.” said Perry, rolling her eyes. Hayley leaped off across the room, performing ballerina twirls and pirouettes.
“Okay, guys! From the top.” said Kerwin, turning around to face his students. The majority of them were exhausted and sweating from hours of dance practise. Some of them were actually pretty good dancers, but until each and every last member had perfected every last move, he couldn't let any of them leave. He glanced at his wrist to check his watch. 02:21 it read, in bold red letters. Kerwin huffed out.
“One, two, three, four.” he counted, and then began to dance the first few steps. By the time he counted to eight, he had stopped, and he was now watching the rest of the glee club dance, “If I tap you on the shoulder, go hang out over there.” he said. He quickly dodged between the rows of people dancing, or trying to dance. Kerwin lightly tapped the first row, Gauri, Hayley, Jade and Luke, on the shoulder. The four walked off to the corner, where they looked on at the remainder of the glee club. Kerwin tapped Naomi, Sarah, Paul, Gina, Skyler, Drew and Jade. This left only a few members of the club, one being Perry. Danny and Juan were quickly tapped out. Then he tapped Alison and Emma. He dodged under one of Trae's astray arms, before tapping him and Gareth out. He circles the final two; Perry and Lena. He gives Lena a light tap on the shoulder, before walking over to Perry.
“Come on, Per, you can do this.” he says, looking at her exhausted face.
“No, I can't.” she replied.
“Yes, you can.”
“I can't and I won't!” she shouted, spinning around on her tiptoes before kicking out her leg above her head. She leaped up into a back flip and landed on the floor, sliding her legs apart so that she's in the splits, before pushing off the ground and twirling her legs in circles. She let down her legs and pushed herself upright.
“Is that good enough for you, Mr. Dean.” she said breathless. Kerwin's eyes were widened, and he was shocked. Perry was amazing. Of course, he knew she was a Cheerio, so she must have some basic dance skills. But this? Perry must be classically trained, or something, because she is out of this world for a 15 year old bitch.
“Okay, then. Now, guys who aren't in the musical, you can head home.” said Kerwin. The members who weren't vocally talented enough to be main roles shuffled out, and headed home in the pitch dark. This left the remainder of the club, Drew; Jade; Luke; Trae; Skyler; Gareth; Danny; Hayley; Juan; Paul; Emma and Gauri. Kerwin was lacking three people, a cheerio that Gauri had auditioned with called Jas, and the two randomers. Doesn't matter, he still has the majority of who he needs.
“Take five, guys. Come back ready for another hour, then we should be done... probably.” said Kerwin, taking a swig of water from his bottle on one of the speakers.
“Hopefully.” added Jade.
“Damn straight.” agreed Kerwin.
Drew was pretty worried about his role. Audrey. A female. He was a male, and he was to play a female. What was Kerwin thinking? Is he supposed to play a female in front of the whole school? Oh my... He wasn't ready for that in his acting career, yet, I guess. The group disbanded, and split off into a bunch of little groups. Drew, Jade, Trae, Gareth and Emma stood in one group, over by the mirror, sharing a bottle of water while Drew passed around a towel to dry themselves from the sweat that was dripping off each and every single one of them. Then, Gauri, Hayley, Luke and Juan stood in another group. Hayley kept shooting death stares at Juan, which were reciprocated each time. Luke made light conversation, and Gauri made jokes while drinking from a flask. Danny, Skyler and Paul were the other group. Honestly, Paul had no idea why two popular students were talking to him. What was even more confusing is that Skyler wasn't standing with Drew and that Danny wasn't standing with the other populars. Go figure.
“You're probably wondering why we're here...” muttered Danny.
“Urm, yeah.” said Paul.
“Well... Drew used to have a crush on me, you know that, right?” asked Skyler. Paul nodded solemnly, hiding his emotions, “and we know you have a crush on him.”
“Waitwat.” Paul said, his eyes widening. “No, I don't.”
“Yeah you do.” said Danny, jokingly. “Don't worry about it, it's cool. We're here to help you work things out with him.” added Skyler. The two grinned at Paul, who was silently freaking out.
“Okay... so, go on?” suggested Paul.
“Oh, yeah. Anyway, you know how the week's assignment is ABBA? Well, it just so happens that ABBA wrote a perfect song for your situation. So, you're gonna perform your first solo in glee club of that song and we're gonna sing backup for you. Then, when the song is over, you go up to him and BAM! You're dating him.” said Danny, smiling wildly.
“Yeah, I just have one question. Skyler, I can understand, but why are you here Danny?” enquired Paul.
“Well, since my breakup with Andy and my new relationship with Hin- someone a lot friendlier and kinder, it's sorta rubbed off on me. I'm a lot nicer now, at least I've been told. Plus, it's a shame to see love go to waste.” Danny replied.
“Okay guys! Break's up, we're gonna do the kiss scene now!” exclaimed Kerwin, shaking his arms in an attempt to loosen up in the warm, sticky auditorium.
“Ohmygod Drew. It's my scene, it's my scene.” breathed Jade, freaking out.
“Don't worry, Jade, it'll be fine. You'll be great.” said Drew in a calm voice, taking her hands and holding them tightly in his so that they stopped shaking. She cracked a smile and hugged Drew, leaning in close to his ear and breathing a light “I don't know what I'd do without you.” before Kerwin tapped her shoulder and told her it was time.
She walked out on to the stage as Hayley tossed her the script. Luke also stood on the stage, re-reading the script, trying to get off-book. Not gonna happen on the first night, boy.
“Satine! Oh my fair Satine!” called Luke. Emma giggled backstage, and Kerwin made a harsh “shh” noise. She shut up instantly, biting her lip so that she didn't laugh.
“Here I am.” said Jade without thinking. She suddenly realized that she was acting, and that she wasn't just meant to reply the way she would. She frantically pulled up the script, and read the line. “Sorry.” she hissed at Kerwin.
“My love.” said Luke, raising his hands and cupping them together in the shape of a heart. Jade giggled and Kerwin shushed again. Jade reached her hands out towards Luke and stepped forward, her hands connecting with his.
“My fair lovely babe-- dear! I mean dear!” said Jade, messing up halfway through the sentence. She smiled bashfully and glanced down at the floor. Oh my god, why was she messing this up!? It's not like she's really in love with the boy, god!
“Kiss me, my sweet, for...” Luke trailed off, and glanced at the lines in his hand, before looking back up at Jade's sweet, melting, hazelnut coloured eyes. Luke's insides melted with warmth as she leaned forward. His hand involuntarily came up from his side and stroked her cheek, before pressing his lips against hers.
And he was not expecting what happened next. Fireworks exploded behind his eyes as his entire world was flipped upside down. Jade's lips felt so supple and so wholesome against his. Like they were created just to be against his. Suddenly, all his feelings for Emma felt so far away. He was dreading this kiss, but now that he's in amongst the feeling, he has no idea why he was dreading it. It feels awesome.
Jade's feeling exactly the same. Her insides turned to jelly as she melted into a puddle. She felt so amazing-- it was just perfect. Is this what Emma felt when she kissed Luke? God, if this is how she felt then how in the hell could she break up with him. It's a new sensation, but a welcome one.
“Urm, guys.” said Drew, snapping his fingers between their faces. “Quit sucking each other's faces off, it's only the rehearsal.”
“Oh, sorry!” exclaimed Luke, granting a laugh from the rest of the club. He chuckled along as well, trying to shrug it off. But it had happened, he was in love. And he wasn't in love with Emma. And Jade... Jade was in love too. Not like with Drew, where she was terrified of being close to him in case she messed it up. With Luke, she felt like she can be herself now. She feels just right when she's with him. Don't get me wrong, she still loves Drew. Platonic love only.
And as Lena looks on from the back row of the auditorium, she catches a glimpse of Jade's fleeting smile, and her full, emotion bearing eyes, and Lena knows Jade's in love too.
But Jade's not in love with Lena.
Jade's in love with Luke

The room was a total state. Plates, both plastic and ceramic, were strewn across the floor. Some had remaining bits of food, others had smashed into pieces. Drinks and glasses were scattered around on surfaces as the music pumped through the house. Jade had decided to hold a sleepover, inviting the glee girls – albeit Perry. Drew was the only guy at the sleepover, enjoying his time with his girls.
“Ohmygod, ohmygod. What happens when the pope dies?” asked Naomi, quickly jotting something down on her notepad for homework due in soon.
“Up pope's another one?” asked Drew, smiling cheekily. Naomi gave a dry laugh, and scoffed at him. Sarah suddenly started dying of laughter, falling off the bed and rolling around on the floor, unable to breathe. Emma stared at her, confused.
“Drewwww, forgive me for asking, but why are gays so well dressed?” asked Gina, as she played with her hair.
“What do you think I was doing in all that time in the closet?” shot back Drew with a playful wink. Gina giggled, and went back to talking to Emma. Jade took out her phone, and glanced at a picture. She went a vivacious red, and put the phone down on the floor.
“Ooooh, Jadey's in luuuurve.” Drew says in a sing-song voice, while slurping a soft drink through a straw in Jade's room. Jade chucks the pillow at Drew's face and Drew ducks, shouting playfully at Jade. She giggled as Emma and Gina shuffled through her movies at the back of the room. Naomi played with her hair as Sarah told her a story about something that happened the other day. Hayley and Lena spoke about the show. Gauri sat by herself, fiddling with a book in her hands. Who knew Gauri was the reading type?
“In luuuurve?” questions Gina. Jade blushes and averts the gaze of the girls as she stands up, leaning against the drawers and the TV. Emma grunts a “move” while she turns on the TV. Jade squeals at the loud noise, and quickly taps it down at the side.
“Yes, in luuuurve.” said Drew with a wink. Lena glared angrily at the pair.
“In luuuurve with whom?” asked Naomi, who had turned around so Sarah could style her hair. Little did Naomi know, Sarah was doing more than 'styling' her hair, especially with those hair scissors. Drew winked at the girl, and Sarah winked back. Alison rolled her eyes.
“Well... urm...” stuttered Jade, looking at Emma for a second and then at Drew. Drew nodded knowingly, grinning at his best friend. Hayley plays around with a teddy.
“Emma!?” says Gina, seeing the glance at Emma. Jade laughs, and shouts a “no” at Gina, who smiles and kicks back against the wall.
“Here's a clue,” mutters Jade. She clears her throat, and sings a few lyrics from a song they performed last week, “he's a cold hearted sna-”
“LUKE!?” screamed Emma, who dropped the drink she was holding. It shattered off Jade's floor, and Jade flinched, noting that she'd have to clean that up later.
“Yes, Luke.” said Jade, turning a vivacious red. Drew clapped and smiled. “Good choice.” he mouthed. Jade giggled. Alison rolled her eyes again.
“B-b-but...” muttered Emma. The entire room was stunned in silence, apart from Jade and Drew, who were both observing the reactions carefully. What was going on? Why couldn't Jade crush on Luke?
“Okay, Jade, Drew. Why don't I just tell you both what we're all thinking,” said Lena, throwing a teddy across the room, which hit one of the lamps, causing it to topple over and smash. Jade flinched again, “you, Jade, crush on a boy who not only managed to make a Disney song offensive, but who also... hmm.. lets list the flaws, shall we? He thinks he can get a girl to like him with a Taylor Swift song and a box of chocolates, he's suddenly besties with the biggest, baddest werewolf of the lot – Juan, for you nincompoops – oh, and last week, he went stripping!”
Jade stared, open mouthed at Lena. “Lena... you're meant to be my friend, why are you trying to stop me from liking Luke?” she asked, her lip trembling.
“Because,” Lena hesitated, trying to find the words, “like you said, he's a cold hearted snake.” Lena sung the lyrics the same way Jade did. Lena then sits down, as Jade slowly begins to cry. Now even her friends are judging her for being attracted to someone. Especially someone who is attractive. Ugh, what friends she has. At least Drew's on her side. She glances up at him, and he gives her a sad smile. Jade looks up through her eyelashes at Lena, who stirs her drink with her straw, an angry storm brewing behind her eyes.
“Get out.” mutters Jade. “Get. Out!” she repeats, screaming the sentence over and over as she brandishes her hand at Lena. Lena cowers under the sweet girl who's suddenly turned into a vicious monster.
“You think you can come in here, and talk to me like this? In my own freakin' house?! Who do you think you are!? Get out!” screams Jade, as Lena flees the room. Her footsteps are heard, along with the opening of a door and slamming of it shut. Jade sinks down to her knees, and stares at the faces around her. “I'm sorry for... for snapping, guys. She just... she just...” Alison rolled her eyes, again. Kinda insensitive at that moment, don't cha thing?
“It's okay, Jade.” says Drew, walking over to her and slowly embracing her from the side, rocking slowly back and forth with her. He opens his mouth to sing but Alison clamps a hand over his mouth, and gestures to Emma, who sticks the soundtrack from Mamma Mia! into the stereo. She quickly skips to the right song, and the music softly begins to play. Hayley delicately sings the first line of Chiquitita.
“Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong. You're enchained by your own sorrow” sang Emma. Jade sobs into her hands.
“In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow.” sang Emma and Gauri. Emma ruffled Jade's hair, and she sobbed again. Gauri placed a hand on the girl's shoulder caringly.
“How I hate to see you like this. There is no way you can deny it.” sang Hayley with Gauri. Hayley also walked over, and sat down beside Jade, her head falling onto Jade's shoulder.
“I can see that you're oh so sad, so quiet.” harmonized the whole New Directions Girls. Drew sadly hugged Jade, as they linked pinkies (rather half-heartedly on Jade's part).
“Chiquitita, tell me the truth. I'm a shoulder you can cry on. Your best friend, I'm the one you must rely on.” sang Ali, who slowly was beginning to soften around Jade's heartbroken figure. She sadly rested a hand on Jade's back.
“You were always sure of yourself. Now I see you've broken a feather. I hope we can patch it up together.” sang Emma, standing up and smiling, knowing that if they were going to cheer up Jade, they'd have to be cheery themselves.
“Chiquitita, you and I know. How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving.” sang Gauri as the song began to speed up, she danced around the room, grabbing Emma's hands as they spun around in a circle.
“You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end. You will have no time for grieving.” sang Ali and Hayley as they both smiled. Sarah and Naomi harmonized each line. Gina ran up to Drew and smiled, ruffling his hair as she pulled him to his feet.
“Chiquitita, you and I cry. But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you.” sang the whole sleepover as they danced around the room. The corners of Jade's mouth were slowly beginning to raise cheerfully.
“Let me hear you sing once more like you did before. Sing a new song, chiquitita” sang Emma as she grabbed Jade, and sat her down on the bed. The girls and Drew ran over to her and started to fix up her hair and makeup.
“Try once more like you did before. Sing a new song, chiquitita.” sang Gauri as she grabbed a tube of lipstick from the dresser and started applying it to Jade.
“So the walls came tumbling down. And your love's a blown out candle. All is gone and it seems too hard to handle.” sang the girls as Jade slowly became sad at the second line, as it really did apply to her. The girls glanced at each other, as Drew came in ready to sing the next power line. Ali clamped her hand over his jaw again.
“Chiquitita, tell me the truth. There is no way you can deny it. I see that you're oh so sad, so quiet.” sang Ali as the other girls formed a ring around the room and began to spin round in circles in a ring. Jade pushed her hair out of her eyes and laughed at her friends.
“Chiquitita, you and I know. How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving. You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end. You will have no time for grieving.” sang the group, with Ali and Emma harmonizing. Jade slowly began to smile as Drew grabbed some eyeliner, and applied it to Jade, his tongue sticking out in concentration.
“Chiquitita, you and I cry. But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you. Let me hear you sing once more like you did before.” sang Emma, walking over and placing a hand under Jade's chin, and gently bringing her head up to face her. Emma threw her hands around Jade's neck and hummed.
“Sing a new song, chiquitita. Try once more like you did before.” sang Hayley, sitting down crosslegged in front of Jade as Emma hummed the tune.
“Sing a new song, chiquitita. Try once more like you did before.” sang Gauri, sitting down next to Hayley and grabbing one of her hands. “Sing a new song, chiquitita.” sang the whole sleepover as Jade pulled her hair back into a ponytail. She smiled at each of the people at her party, and began to cry with joy.
“I love you guys.” said Jade, hugging Drew tightly. Drew's head fell onto her shoulder and he whispered into her ear,
“You know, I don't blame you for the crush on Luke. He is... pretty hot.”
“Drew!” scoffed Emma and Jade simultaneously.
“Okay, okay.” muttered Drew as the two girls attacked him with a pillow. He laughed, as did the two girls.
“But none of you guys can tell anyone!” shouted Jade. The girls – and Drew – nodded obediently.

“Hey, Luke.” called Emma as she saw the boy walking down the main stairwell to second period. He turned on his heel to see his former girlfriend, and frowned as she ran down the stairs, grabbed his shirt collar and dragged him into the janitors closet.
“Emma, what the hell?” he shouted, as he went to leave the janitor's closet. Emma laid a hand on his chest and clenched it into a fist, grabbing his shirt and dragging him backwards so that he couldn't open the door. “Get off, jesus!”
“Luke. Shut. Up! This is important, listen to- listen to me!” she shouted as Luke struggled against her. She pushed him down onto the floor and put a strong foot on his chest, pinning him against the floor.
“What!? Ohmygod get the hell off me!” screamed Luke as he struggled against her. Eventually he realized it was futile and lay still, “What is it?” he asked.
“Are you going to try and run away?” she asked. Luke nodded his head no, and she pulled her foot off him, letting him to his feet, where he leaned against the wall, attempting to act cool despite the fact he'd just been knocked to the ground by a girl.
“Okay, tell me. What's up?” he asked, massaging his arm.
“Jade's in love with you.” said Emma, point blank. Luke's eyebrows raised and his jaw fell open, he muttered a “really?” and began to massage his temples, not sure what to make of it.
“Urm... okay... why tell me this?” he asked. On one hand, his entire soul filled with joy and happiness that Jade liked him back, but on the other hand he was dreading seeing her again in case he messed up around her. Plus, he still had feelings for Emma, even if she was acting totally crazy at the moment. That time of the month, he guessed.
“Because you need to know. Also, because even though you're my ex; I still care about you, and I want what's best for you, even if to me that is for you to be rotting at the bottom of a sewer, and what I think is best for you is that you don't try the moves on Jade. She'll end up like me, woo'ed by a T-Swift song and a box of chocolates. And I really don't want that for her. So, just, leave her alone, okay?” blurted out Emma. Luke seemed a bit hurt with the insinuation that he couldn't treat a girl right, but, well, he kinda can't anyway. No matter, he still liked Jade, and Emma, even though her hormones must be through the roof right now to compensate for how moody she was being.
“Fine. I'll stay away from her, but I still need to kiss her, you realize.” Emma scowled at this remark, reminding herself that she had to watch her boyfriend, sorry ex-boyfriend kiss another girl right in front of her. Damn you, Kerwin Dean.
Little did Emma know, outside the janitor's closet at that exact moment, Jade Richman was passing by, heading for class. She heard voices, and then her name, and began to listen in. She'd heard every word Emma and Luke had said, and it made her heart wrench that Emma had betrayed her, even if it had been for her own good. And now Luke was going to stay away from her? No! She doesn't want that! She wants the opposite, goddamnit! How could Emma be so stupid... It seemed to Jade like she was losing each of her friends. First Lena, now Emma. Why did she deserve this? She heard the door being fumbled with inside and took off running, hiding round a corner and then walking back the way she came as if she was walking down this corridor for the first time now.
Luke and Emma left the closet, and a jock made a joke about Luke banging Emma in the janitor's office. Luke gave a dry laugh, and Emma just rolled her eyes. Clearly this jock wasn't up to speed on the local gossip. Luke turned round to see Jade, and he gulped. Emma glared at him, and walked off in the opposite direction, leaving Luke alone with Jade.
“Hi.” he muttered.
“Hey...” she replied.
“I... gotta go.” Luke said hastily, as he walked off down the other corridor. Jade was left with a blank look on her face and all by herself. The same jock who had made the joke about Luke and Emma returned, clutching a slushie meant for Jade. She didn't even dodge, she just took the slushie facial in the face without even caring. And as she slowly walked towards the bathroom to clean her face, she began to sing S.O.S.
“Where are those happy days, they seem so hard to find. I tried to reach for you, but you have closed your mind.” sang Jade as she placed her head under the tap in the sink. She began to rinse out the slushie. Across campus, Luke was sitting in class, thinking similar thoughts to those of Jade. He really... really liked her. But he really liked Emma too. He can't go back to Emma, but could he really do that to Jade? Just use her to get over Emma? It seems horrible... could he? He probably could. He is a bit of a heartbreaker.
“Whatever happened to our love, I wish I understood. It used to be so nice, it used to be so good.” sang Luke, singing about Emma. Emma was at the front of the class, and could hear Luke singing. She turned around and glanced at him, only for him to avert his gaze from her. Then, the three in unison began to sing.
“So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me. SOS. The love you gave me, nothing else can save me. SOS.” sang Luke and Jade. Luke asked if he could go to the bathroom, and hastily left the classroom. Jade slowly picked out pieces of slush from her hair.
“When you're gone (when you're gone). How can I even try to go on.” sang Jade with Luke. “When you're gone (when you're gone). Though I try how can I carry on.” sang Luke with Jade. The two's voices merged beautifully as they angrily sang. Luke about Emma, Jade about Luke. The love Luke used to have with Emma, and the love Jade was longing for in Luke.
“You seem so far away though you are standing near, You made me feel alive, but something died fear. I really tried to make it out, I wish I understood. What happened to our love, it used to be so good.” sang Jade, as she began to apply makeup having finished removing the slush from her hair. She took out eyeliner, and started putting it on her eyes.
“So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me, SOS. The love you gave me, nothing else can save me, SOS.” sang Luke, thinking of Emma.
“When you're gone (when you're gone). How can I even try to go on.” sang Jade. “When you're gone (when you're gone). Though I try how can I carry on.” sang Luke. “When you're gone (when you're gone). How can I even try to go on.” sang Jade. “When you're gone (when your gone).” sang Luke. “Though I try how can I carry on.” sang Jade. Jade opened the door, being finished adding the makeup. She walked out into the corridor to see Luke walk down the corridor past her. In the heat of the moment, she placed a hand on his chest. He turned around, and before he could say anything, she pressed his lips against his.
Lena chose the wrong moment to turn the corner, seeing Jade kiss him with a passion Lena'd never seen Jade have before. ==

Paul turned around, his hair lightly bouncing as he did so. He glanced across the purple club at Drew, who sat on a stool, slurping his drink. Paul looked down at himself, and saw himself clad in tight underwear and a small vest. He looked at Drew again, to see that he was wearing similar clothing (or lack of). Paul stumbled into the middle of the room, and began to look around the club in more detail.
Paul saw Emma, clad in only underwear, dancing on a counter over at the bar, where a bartender, who upon closer inspection was Luke, wore nothing other than tight underwear. Paul walked towards the toilets, and before he could enter, two bodies came out of the boys toilets, kissing in a frenzy. Trae and Gareth, both clothed in only their skimpy pyjamas, made out. Trae pushing Gareth against the wall as he hungered for his lips. Paul walked over to where Drew was sitting, and sat down next to him. He spun round in his chair as Paul approached, and pointed. Paul spun round to see an almost nude Skyler and an almost nude Gina dancing on the strobe litten dance floor. Paul was in wonder. All of his friends were here, almost naked, and dancing in couples. Minus him and Drew of course.
Then, music started to play. Paul felt his body be carried to the middle of the dancefloor. It became apparent to him that he no longer had control over his body. The four couples shifted so that they were side by side, and then the first couple began to sing Lay All Your Love on Me. Emma and Luke pushed through the other three couples, beginning with a slow, romantic dance, with their noses rubbing together and Emma's delicate lips grazing Luke's neck every time they spun.
“I wasn't jealous before we met. Now every woman I see is a potential threat.” sang Luke.
“And I'm possessive, it isn't nice. You've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice.” sang Emma.
“But now it isn't true. Now everything is new...” sang Luke while Emma harmonized. “And all I've learned has overturned.” sang Emma while Luke harmonized. “I beg of you...” sang the two.
The group shuffled so that they were all dancing with each other again. Luke and Emma danced very close, while Drew was grinding against Paul. Skyler and Gina danced elegantly, while Trae and Gareth stole every opportunity they could to kiss.
“Don't go wasting your emotion. Lay all your love on me.” sang the group, as they danced to the beat.
“It was like shooting a sitting duck. A little smalltalk, a smile and baby I was stuck.” sang Skyler as he and Gina broke through the group of couples. They danced seductively, as Gina twirled around Skyler.
“I still don't know what you've done with me. A grown-up woman should never fall so easily.” sang Gina, as she whispered the final line into Skyler's ear, while her lips grazed Skyler's neck. He tensed visibly.
“I feel a kind of fear. When I don't have you near.” sang Skyler while Gina harmonized.
“Unsatisfied, I skip my pride.” sang Gina while Skyler harmonized.
“I beg you dear...” sang the two.
Skyler and Gina danced off to the side, heading towards the bar, where Skyler began to pour the two a drink. Gina placed her index finger under his chin, and lifted his head, beginning to kiss him passionately. Luke and Emma mirrored their actions on the opposite side of the room.
“Don't go wasting your emotion. Lay all your love on me.” sang Luke and Emma. “Don't go sharing your devotion. Lay all your love on me.” sang Skyler and Gina.
Paul, Trae, Drew and Gareth remained on the dancefloor
“I've had a few little love affairs. They didn't last very long and they've been pretty scarce.” sang Drew as he wrapped his arms around Paul's chest, whispering the lyrics into his ear as Paul had chills.
“I used to think that was sensible. It makes the truth even more incomprehensible.” sang Paul as Drew and Paul broke away from the centre of the room. The two slowly circled each other, dancing erotically.
“'Cause everything is new. And everything is you.” sang Drew while Paul harmonized.
“And all I've learned has overturned.” sang Paul while Drew harmonized.
“What can I do...” sang the two.
Drew grabbed Paul's hand and dragged him off near the boys toilets. Drew pushed Paul against the wall, and pressed his lips against Paul's to form a chaste kiss. Paul hungered for more, but Drew pulled back.
“Don't go wasting your emotion. Lay all your love on me.” sang the group, as Paul groped Drew's back and ran his left hand through Drew's hair.
“Don't go sharing your devotion.” sang Trae, kissing Gareth.
“Lay all your love on me.” sang Gareth, stroking Trae's cheek.
Paul turned over, and woke up. His arms still reached out for Drew, until he realized that it was a dream... and that Drew wasn't here, and that Drew wasn't his.
Gina turned over, and woke up. Her arms reached out for Skyler, and curled around his shoulders. He gave a grunt of approval, and Gina smiled.
Emma turned over, and woke up. Her arms reached out for Luke, until she realized that it was a dream... and that Luke wasn't here, and that Luke wasn't hers.
Gareth turned over, and woke up. His arms reached out for Trae, and his hands grazed Trae's cheek. Trae's eyes fluttered open, and Gareth kissed him.
“I love you..” muttered Paul, Gina, Emma and Gareth in unison.

“Okay, Paul, this is your time!” squealed Danny as Skyler, Paul and Danny entered the crowded choir room.
“I can't!” Paul groaned, “I'm not ready. Plus, I asked him out last week and he didn't really know what to say. Granted, he seemed okay with it, but I don't know if he likes me – or if he's into someone else!? I don't want to have to deal with the rejection.”
“Come on, Paul! Draul – Drew and Paul, by the way – is totally OTP endgame!” stated Skyler, impatiently.
“Skyler, what the hell.” commented Danny. Paul giggled at his friend. “No, seriously, what even.”
Skyler and Danny also began to laugh, as they took their seats up the back of the room. Paul was silently freaking out, not knowing what to make of his friends' mission to get Drew and Paul together. Then, an idea hit Paul.
“Skyler, how did you get Drew to like you? Like, I mean, what did you do that got him to fancy you?” asked Paul, beginning to form an idea.
“Urmm... I don't know. I think Drew mentioned my hair, or my outfit or something? Probably something to do with my attitude as well.”
“Oh... I just got an idea.” said Danny, the corners of his mouth raising into a cheeky smile. It quickly changes scene to the same day after school, where Paul, Danny and Skyler were in Danny's bedroom. Paul sat on a stool in front of a mirror, while Skyler held a pair of scissors and a box of wax. Danny kept turning the seat to see a different angle in the mirror. He muttered things to himself quietly. Paul was freaking out. What was going on? And why did Skyler have scissors!? Oh dear.
“Makeover.” muttered Skyler, holding up the scissors in front of Paul's face. The boy gulped and took a loud breath.
“Are you sure that's the right way to do this?” asked Paul, running his hands through his hair nervously. “I like my hair, and how I look...” he muttered.
“If you want Drew to like you, you have to WOW him!” said Danny, running over to one of his closets and throwing open one. He shuffled through the clothes hanging up in there, and the sound f raking coat hangers filled the room. Danny pulled out two outfits, and sized them up on Paul.
“Hmm... maybe.” said Skyler, as he took the scissors to Paul's hair, “I'll make it like mine, okay?” e suggested. Paul gulped and muttered, “Sure.”
“Close your eyes.”
Skyler started chopping away at the boy's hair, and locks of chestnut brown hair fell down onto Danny's bright blue carpet. Danny scolded Paul for having long hair, as the two began to style it into a near replica of Skyler's hair. Danny sprayed it with water while Skyler's combed out the tugs, then, he put some of the wax into his hair, and styled it. Paul nervously took a breath. Danny also worked on his hair, until it was finally finished.
“Don't open your eyes yet! We have to get you in the outfit!” exclaimed Danny, holding up the shirt and trousers. New shoes, socks and a jumper were also neatly folded over a chair for Paul to wear. All of this had never been worn before; Danny had some pretty rich parents who basically spoiled him rotten. The majority of his closet had never even been worn before, so why not help out Paul? His break up with Andy really had changed him. Now he was a lot more compassionate, and he actually cared about others.
Skyler and Danny dragged Paul out of the chair, as he complained. They stood him up in the middle of the room, and stripped him of his clothes. He complained and groaned loudly when they pulled off his shirt, and he was about to run out when they pulled off his trousers, but Danny kept a calming grip on his hand. Paul was grateful for that. Then, Skyler began to re-dress Paul, giving him a loose shirt similar to one Skyler owned. Then, they put on a chequered overshirt, and buttoned the middle button the same way Skyler did. Finally, they slipped Paul into some tight skinny jeans which hugged his legs. Danny put the finishing touches on, and slipped a few bracelets and a necklace onto Paul.
“Open your eyes... now!” said Skyler, who had moved Paul in front of a fullsize mirror. Paul's eyes fluttered open, and his jaw fell. His hair was perfect, and it made his face seem much more older and sophisticated. His clothes... oh god his clothes. They were perfect! They looked amazing on him, like they were just made for him!
“Ohmygod guys thank you so much it's amazing ohmygod.” repeated Paul, so excited that the makeover hadn't yet sunk in. When it began to, he finally began to realize what he could now do. He had the confidence, the attitude, and he looked the part. He finally had enough confidence and self loving to convince Drew to be his boyfriend. He was perfect, from his flawless hair down to his brand spankin' new shoes.
“You look amazing!” congratulated Skyler, patting Paul on the shoulder. He glanced over his shoulder, looked Skyler in the eyes, and said in a voice full of confidence, “I know I do.”
The next day a new-and-improved Paul Prescott, stormed into the choir room. He pointed to Skyler, who hit the CD player, and then he pointed to Danny, who threw him a microphone. Paul put a modern twist on Take a Chance on Me and had a whole new attitude that stunned the club.
“If you change your mind, I'm the first in line. Honey, I'm still free. Take a chance on me.” sang Paul acapella. He walked over to the piano and slowly played the chords. Jade looked at Drew and raised a cocky eyebrow.
“ If you need me, let me know, gonna be around. If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down.” sang Paul, as he stopped playing the piano. He walked into the middle of the choir room as Danny and Skyler flanked him, the two carrying microphones.
“If you're all alone, when the pretty birds have flown. Honey, I'm still free. Take a chance on me. Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie. If you put me to the test, if you let me try.” sang Paul while Danny and Skyler harmonized.
“Take a chance on me, (That's all I ask of you honey), Take a chance on me” sang Paul while Danny and Skyler harmonized.
“We can go dancing, we can go walking, as long as we're together. Listen to some music, maybe just talking, get to know you better. 'Cos you know I've got, so much that I wanna do, when I dream I'm alone with you. It's magic. You want me to leave it there, afraid of a love affair. But I think you know. That I can't let go.” sang Paul as he stormed around the room, dancing around Drew, mimicking what he did in his dream; to some degree.
“If you change your mind, I'm the first in line. Honey I'm still free, Take a chance on me. If you need me, let me know, gonna be around. If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down. If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown, Honey I'm still free. Take a chance on me. Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie, If you put me to the test, if you let me try.” sang Paul while Skyler started dancing with Gina, who shimmied and laughed at Skyler's performance. Danny ran around the room, throwing glitter at the glee students, who cheered.
“Take a chance on me, (Come on, give me a break will you?) Take a chance on me. Oh you can take your time baby, I'm in no hurry, know I'm gonna get you. You don't wanna hurt me, baby don't worry, I ain't gonna let you, Let me tell you now, My love is strong enough to last when things are rough. It's magic, You say that I waste my time but I can't get you off my mind. No I can't let go. 'Cos I love you so.” finished Paul, while Skyler and Danny repeated Come on, give me a break will you? Through the whole verse.
The club applauded as the song came to a close, Kerwin standing up next to Paul.
“Wow, Paul! That was a side of you I've never seen before! What inspired it?”
“Well, I came to my senses and I realized that being the cute, positive, butter-wouldn't-melt-in-my-mouth Christian boy, wasn't gonna help me get what I want – what I need.” He said the last bit in a seductive tone, eyeing Drew carefully, “so, in order to help me get these things, I changed who I am.”
“Cool, Paul! Just remember, you should never change for anyone.” said Kerwin, “Oh! One last thing, who was that song dedicated to? Because it is a lovesong, and you obviously want someone to 'take a chance on you'.” continued Kerwin, smiling at the boy.
“... Drew. That song was for Drew.” said Paul, smiling shyly at the floor. Drew looked at Jade, shocked, and Jade smiled back.
“Urm...” muttered Drew, as the bell rang. The club filed out, and Drew avoided Paul, walking with Jade past him quickly.
“Ohmygod Drew, he just sang a love song to you!” squealed Jade as soon as they were out of earshot.
“I know!” said Drew, staring at the floor.
“What? Why are you sad? What's wrong with that? He just sang a love song to you!” she said, confused as to why Drew was angry.
“I'm sad because...”
“But he sang a love song to you!”
“ARE YOU A STUCK RECORD OR SOMETHING!?” roared Drew, causing Jade to stumble backwards and mutter a 'sorry', “Look, he sang a love song to me. And I'm over Skyler, Gina can have my sloppy seconds if she wants. But... I'm scared of dating Paul. Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing person. And... I think I might be in love with him... but, Jade, he's Christian!”
“And what does that have to do with anything, you “dated” Skyler, and he was Christian!” pointed out Jade.
“Fair point. But still, Skyler isn't as strict a Christian as Paul is. Well, not Paul, but Paul's family. That's the thing. I don't know if his parents would allow him to date another guy.”
“Okay...”
“Look, I'm fully prepared to date Paul if he can prove to me that his parents won't chase me down and kill me for turning their son gay.”
“I'll see what I can do.” muttered Jade.
“No, not you. Him. He needs to put in the effort.”
“Don't you think you're being a diva? He's already sang a love song to you!”
“I have an idea.”
The two turn on their heels, and walk off in opposite directions.

“Drew, I need to talk to you.” said Lena, as she ran up to Drew. She was clad in her tight cheerio's outfit, wearing a short skirt that ruffled when she moved. It was a sharp contrast to her usual clothing; even as a cheerio, Lena refused to wear the uniform at any other time than practise. Seeing her in that uniform was weird.
“I don't have anything to say to you.” said Drew, as he slammed his locker shut, turning around so his back was towards Lena. She scoffed, and grabbed his bicep, pulling him around to face him.
“Drew, please. I know you'll know where I'm coming from if you only let me explain.” she begged, desperate to get her friend back. Since they had been driven apart by the argument at Jade's, Lena had literally no one to go to. She needed Drew back.
“No, Lena.” said Drew as he turned the school corridor, closing over the flap of his messenger bag.
“I'm in love with Jade.” blurted out Lena. She kept thinking of the kiss between Luke and Jade and she felt so horrible saying those words, but they were true. Sometimes the truth hurts. Drew spun around and grabbed her wrist, he kicked open one of the boys toilets and dragged her in. He opened a cubicle and pulled her into it.
“What. No, don't give me some silly excuse that you didn't mean it or you didn't say that. I know what you said, you're in love with my straight best friend.”
“Oh please, like you don't know the feeling. In love with Skyler, remember?” she said, snapping her fingers in his face.
“Point taken.” he said, biting his lip.
“Look, you've had this feeling before. You fell in love with a close friend, who used to be my best friend. It's not something you can stop, Drew. It's not a feeling you can control. You love who you love, and you can't help it. And what tears me apart is watching you know that the one you loved had no feelings for you. And you couldn't accept it. It took you weeks, an outing, Gina's personal vendetta against you and about four songs for you to understand that he wasn't in love with you. I don't want that for me. I really don't. Yeah, it'd be good to have the songs, I guess. But I need your help. I need you to help me get over Jade, and fast.” said Lena, tripping over herself as she basically blurted out everything she was feeling at once.
“... I was really that crazy?” asked Drew. Lena laughed, and nodded her head. “Yeah, I really don't want to end up like that. At least you're over him.”
“And about Skyler being your best friend, what happened to that?” continued Drew. Lena wore a blank face.
“I don't actually know. We just fell out of being best friends after like... the fifth week of school. I don't even know why. It stings.”she explained. Drew felt sorry for the girl. It's not her fault that she has those attractions...
“But... Jade's in love with Luke.” said Drew, tentatively. It sucked when people said that Skyler was in love with Gina to him, so he probably shouldn't say that to Lena. But... he has to, at least.
“Don't rub it in.” said the girl, stone faced. Drew laughed.
“So, what do you want me to do?” he asked. “You have two options,” Lena explained, “You can help me get over Jade, or you can help her fall in love with me.”
“Oh. Joy. You realize you sound like a crazy person, right?”
“Mhmmmm.” she groaned.
“Fine, I'll help you. By the end of the week, Jade will be in love with you. Or my name isn't Drew Morgan!”
“Thank you. You have no idea how much that means to me. Drew, you are an angel!” she shouted, and kissed him on the forehead. He groaned and moved backwards as the two began to laugh.
“I actually have an idea how we could. It involves the cheerios.” suggested Drew. “And between
you and me, I'd much rather you were dating Jade than that slutbag Luke. He actually went stripping the other week?” said Drew in disbelief.
“Yep. He's totally not right for Jade.” said the girl.
“Agreed.”
“So, about that idea?” asked Lena, pointing out to Drew that they were still stuck in a cubicle. Drew facepalmed, and unlocked the door, climbing out, only to come face to face with Jack.
“What the hell ar-” started Drew.
“Oh, was the gay kid f*cking the lesbian in the toilet? Wow, kinky! So, are you actually gay Drew, or was that just another ploy for attention, like everything else you do?” spat Jack. He eyed Lena carefully.
“Go away, Jack.” said Lena, and she covered her chest as she caught Jack's eyes verging down towards her breasts.
“Leave her alone.” said Drew, “Get out. Why are you even here? You don't attend McKinley!”
“I just wanted to let you guys know that now I know about Lena's little crush (and Jade's little crush), I have all the info I need. See ya guys soon.” he said with a sarcastic wink as he walked out of the bathroom. Lena looked at Drew, and he glanced back too.
“What the hell...?”
“Let's just... go to the gymnasium.” said Drew, grabbing Lena's hand and running down to the gym. On the way there, Lena texted Ali to get the squad assembled in the next ten minutes, while Drew texted Luke to head to the gym in about fifteen minutes. The two entered the gymnasium to see Gauri doing some stretches in the middle of the gym.
“What is Drew doing here?” she frowned at Lena. Lena ran over to Gauri and whispered in her ear. Drew couldn't hear what, so he assumed it was something to do with performing a number.
“I'll sing lead.” said Drew as he ran over to the sound system in the middle of the room. He quickly filtered to the songs they had in mind, and selected the two songs they were going to mashup.
“We'll sing lead.” corrected Lena, rolling her eyes. The girls from the squad filtered into the room, checking their phones to see if they had an update from Ali, they saw Drew fiddling with the music, and Jas ran up to the boy.
“What! No! Don't touch that! Ms. Sylvester will flip out!” she screamed. “Calm down, Jas. I know how to manipulate music.” he explained. The cheerio folded her arms and made a 'hmph' noise, walking away.
Luke opened the door of the gymnasium and walked in, looking around nervously at the girls – and Drew, he noted – he saw Drew and Lena run in to the middle of the room, and begin to sing Mamma Mia/Voulez-Vous.
“I've been cheated by you since I don't know when. So I made up my mind, it must come to an end. Look at me now, will I ever learn?” sang Lena, acapella. She slowly stretched while singing, lifting her leg behind her head. Luke was stunned.
“I don't know how but I suddenly lose control. There's a fire within my soul. Just one look and I can hear a bell ring. One more look and I forget everything.” sang Drew, slowly fading in music. He hit a switch and strobe lights started. Ali called out and the cheerios began to dance as Drew cartwheeled so he was level with Lena.
“Mamma mia, here I go again. My my, how can I resist you? Mamma mia, does it show again? My my, just how much I've missed you. Yes, I've been brokenhearted. Blue since the day we parted. Why, why did I ever let you go? Mamma mia, now I really know, My my, I could never let you go.” sang Lena and Drew with the Cheerios as they performed complex dance moves. Luke was confused as to why he was called here.
“People everywhere. A sense of expectation hanging in the air. Giving out a spark. Across the room your eyes are glowing in the dark.” sang Lena with the Cheerios as Drew ran across the hall and sprinted up the bleachers, before sliding down the railing, leaping off and landing a forward flip.
“And here we go again, we know the start, we know the end, Masters of the scene. We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more, You know what I mean.” sang Drew with Lena and the Cheerios as he danced around Luke. It was suddenly becoming more apparent to him that they were warning him about Jade.
“I've been angry and sad about the things that you do. I can't count all the times that I've told you we're through. And when you go, when you slam the door. I think you know that you won't be away too long. You know that I'm not that strong.” sang Lena with Drew and the Cheerios. It was more obvious to Luke that this was a warning to stay away.
“I know what you think, "The girl means business so I'll offer her a drink. Feeling mighty proud. I see you leave your table, pushing through the crowd.” sang Lena and Drew. Luke was being pushed backwards by the increasingly intense performance. Drew and Lena sang in unison as they danced around Luke.
“Voulez-vous (ah-ha). Take it now or leave it (ah-ha). Now is all we get (ah-ha). Nothing promised, no regrets. Voulez-vous (ah-ha). Ain't no big decision (ah-ha). You know what to do (ah-ha). I can still say voulez-vous.” sang Drew as he backflipped onto the awaiting hands of Gauri, who boosted him up into the air.“Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha). Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha). Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha). Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha).” sang Lena and the Cheerios, as they performed around Drew and then Luke. The constant repetition was making Luke dizzy. “Voulez-vous (ah-ha). Take it now or leave it (ah-ha). Now is all we get (ah-ha). Nothing promised, no regrets. Voulez-vous (ah-ha). Ain't no big decision (ah-ha). You know what to do (ah-ha). I can still say voulez-vous.” sang Drew and Lena with the Cheerios. They formed a ring around Luke and spun around him. He was constantly turning, seeing the faces pass by him. This was a warning to be taken seriously. On the final word, the cheerios and the performers burst away so quickly that Luke was dazed. He collapsed, unable to think properly.
“Wow, Morgan. That was pretty impressive for a dude.” said Ali as she walked up to Drew, her arms folded across her chest.
“Thanks.” he said, giving her a cheerful nod.
“What do you say to a place on the squad?” she asked. Drew was taken aback. He was being asked to join the Cheerios? But... he couldn't! Could he?
“Urmm... would it be okay with everyone else?” said Drew, not knowing what to do exactly. Gauri nodded enthusiastically while Hayley clapped. Jas scowled and Perry grinned. Lena smiled at Drew.
“It's unanimous, you're on the team.” said Ali. Lena screamed “Yay!” and hugged Drew tightly. Drew was so confused, he's a cheerio! This is his chance to make it! To be popular! How could this be happening to him. Ali returned, holding a box with Drew Morgan engraved into the tag. She handed it to him, cracking a smile. Drew opened the box to see a cheerio's uniform.
“Thank you, thank you so much!” exclaimed Drew.
“Yeah, you really need to work on your bitch face.” joked Hayley. Drew laughed, and the group left the auditorium, just as Luke was coming to his senses.
“W-what...?” he murmured.

“And a one, and a two, and a one, two, three, four!” counted in Kerwin as he hit the music. The dancers began to nimbly prance around the stage to the rhythmn, showing obvious signs of tiredness. The same routine, day in, day out. The glee kids were getting bored. They really wanted it to be the show, and soon! Some people need their spotlight, other's just need out of this bloody show. Only way to do that is to finish it. Jade and Luke were still terrified of having to kiss each other, especially after what happened in the corridor. When Luke seemed stunned, Jade said that she had tripped and that she had kissed him accidentally. He believed the lie, or at least he pretended to believe the lie... so he lied about lying? The whole love triangle was getting pretty confusing, and in the way of their lives. Seriously, Jade had created a timetable of where Luke would be every day so that she could avoid seeing him in the corridors in case of awkward contact. So far, it had worked, but she couldn't avoid practise, and she couldn't avoid the kiss scene.
Lucky Drew, he had yet to talk to Paul. He just couldn't find the words to tell Paul yes, or to tell Paul no. Honestly, Drew had never anticipated that he would have been pursued by someone as admittedly hot as Paul. Paul was pretty cute, Drew thought. But could Drew really use him to get over Skyler? Sure, it'd be an added bonus, but... He doesn't know. Should he? Should he not? He has his reasons for and against... and Paul's obviously a lovely dude. Like, he changed his whole appearance to try and seduce Drew. Clearly, Paul wanted this relationship... and yeah, Drew wanted it too, but is Drew ready to date someone? He's only been out of the closet for about a month or two, and his first 'relationship' kind of failed instantly, considering he was straight and in love with Gina – which resulted in his outing, stupid cow. Accidental my arse, Drew thought. How coincidental that their falling out occurred JUST before Gina outed Drew. It's fine, he's over it. He just wished it'd turned out differently, that's all. Come out when he was ready.
“Guys!” shouted Kerwin, as the club looked his way. Most were pretty exhausted from the constant dancing and such. “Okay, back up dancers, hit the road. I'mma work on the acting scenes for the rest of the day. Thanks, anyway!” dismissed Kerwin as the backup dancers left the auditorium, an angry Perry cursing out Kerwin under her breath to a Lena who couldn't stop glancing back at Jade and thinking of the kiss she saw Luke and Jade share earlier in the week. It made her feel so horrible and angry. The whole performance had backfired.
“Kay, let's work on the kiss scene.” said Kerwin. Once again, the director was completely oblivious
to any and all emotions and feelings of the club. Somehow, he'd even managed to neglect the Drew and Paul dilemma, almost as much as Jade and Luke's kissing had really effected them. Kerwin sat in his director's chair, and shouted an “Action!” into a megaphone. By this point, Luke and Jade were both nervously perspiring about the impending kiss. The night the first kiss had happened, Jade had read the script very carefully, and by now she was almost off book for the second half, and had the first half memorized. Luke was very similar, but had decided to do this scene improvised. Jade quickly skimmed the script, and threw it to Drew, who caught it and gave her a small smile.
“Satine! Oh my fair Satine! Where for art thou?” called Luke. Emma grinned, but clamped her hand over her mouth to stop her from making any noise. This sent Hayley into hysterics, and she started laughing. Emma used her other hand to silence Hayley, but Kerwin still shot the pair a glare.
“My dear Christian, I am here, my dear. Come to thou!” said Jade as her hands reached out for Luke. His arms also extended as the pair walked into the middle of the stage. His hands connected with hers, and he massaged the tops of her hands with his warm fingers. Jade blushed.
“My love.” muttered Luke. He fell to one knee, and brought Jade's left hand to his lips. Somehow, he was able to push through the awkwardness to 'act' in love with Jade. He refused to let any thought of how beautiful her hair looked today, or how her eyes were staring deep into his soul made his heart flutter, or how her lips seemed so kissable and pure and... she was just flawless. Jade blushed.
“I'm flattered.” she replied. She pulled her hand back, and Luke got to his feet. Kerwin pointed to Drew, who after breaking his eyes away from the sappy romance in front of him, hit the music. A slow, instrumental song began to play.
“May I have this dance...?” asked Luke, as his lips came close to Jade's ear. She nodded, and Luke's hand clasped into hers. Her hand snaked around the two and rested on his shoulder. His hand fell down to her waist, and the two began to dance. Emma furiously looked on. As the dance came to a close, Drew was on the edge of his chair, waiting for the kiss. Maybe he didn't want Jade and Luke together, but he wanted Satine and Christian to be together... and therefore Jade and Luke. Ugh, it was so confusing.
“That was amazing.” whispered Jade. She pulled away, and went to walk away from Luke. But his hand rested on her shoulder. She turned round, as her heart thumped in her ears. Luke leaned down, and pressed his lips against hers. Jade went to pull away out of fear, but instead her hand reached up and cupped the back of Luke's neck, and pulled his head down closer to her as she began to kiss deeper and deeper.
“Okaaaaaay...” shouted Kerwin into the megaphone, which broke Luke and Jade apart. Luke gave her a smile and Jade looked at the floor. Luke turned away, downcast, as the pair walked off the stage. Kerwin drew the curtain.
“Hi, Drew.” muttered someone backstage. Drew turned his head, looking for the voice. Paul stepped out from behind a curtain. Drew's heart thudded.
“Hi...” he murmured. Paul took a step closer. Paul's hair was still styled the way it was a few days ago, and his clothes were near replicas of what he'd been wearing the first time.
“Have you thought about... my song – my offer?” he asked. Drew averted his eyes, unsure of what to say.
“... I've thought of nothing else.” he admitted. A quick smile flashed across Paul's face. Paul took a step forward; towards Drew. Drew moved backwards. Paul raised his eyebrows. “But... I don't know...” said Drew.
“Oh.” said Paul, suddenly sad, “I... I should go.” he stuttered as a tear started to fall down his cheek. “N-no!” stopped Drew, but Paul had already ran off, sobs being heard from where he had headed off to.
“Nicely handled.” said Jade, who had been watching silently and hidden from behind a curtain. She'd come back to talk about the kiss, but she'd seen Paul and well... she just had to watch.
“Thanks.” muttered Drew, giving a sarcastic grin. She walked over to him, and sat down next to him. She placed an arm around his shoulders and pulled him close.
“You're my best friend, okay?” quizzed Jade.
“Of course.” he replied. She nuzzled his neck and he smiled. “I love you, Jade.” he said. Jade smiled at him, and gave him a kiss on the temple.
“Yeah, I know. Me too.” she said. She pushed herself off the floor, and looked over Drew's shoulder. Lena stood there, her arms folded across her chest.
“Well, hello.” she said. Jade's eyebrows knitted together angrily as she grabbed Drew, “C'mon, we're going.” said Jade.
“No. Stop.” said Lena. She reached out for Jade, and Jade tried to walk away. Drew leaned up to Jade's ear, and whispered something. Jade's body softened and her face returned to normal. She had calmed down.
“Okay... What do you want?” asked Jade, her hand still intertwined with Drew's.
“To apologize.” muttered Lena, “For the Sleepover. I was out of line, and somewhat drunk.” she stated. Jade gave a sad smile.
“It's okay, Lena. We all have our moments.” grinned Drew. Jade smiled and laughed, thinking back when she went a total bitch over Drew.
“True.” muttered Lena.
“So... Can we go back to being friends?” asked Jade. Lena extended her hand and Jade threw her arms around Lena. Jade always was a hugger. Lena laughed, and put her arms around Jade. The two hugged, while Drew looked on. He smiled.
“Of course.” she muttered. Jade broke back, and her eyes lingered on Lena. Then, Lena cleared her throat, and the two parted. The pair walked over to Drew, and they all shared a glance. Before Jade gripped Drew's left hand, Lena grasped his right, and the three walked out of the auditorium and out of the school.
Jade stood at her locker, emptying her bag into her locker. She hummed one of her favourite tunes, and one that she'd need to know for the show, Come What May. She slammed shut her locker, and came face to face with Emma.
“Hi.” she said. Jade had a pang of panic, not knowing that Emma would be there. Jade dropped her bags onto the floor, and Emma leans down to help her pick them up.
“Hi...” said Jade, warily unsure of how to take this encounter. Emma grinned, and handed Jade her books. Emma then opened the locker for her. Jade took them in her arms and quickly shoved them in the locker. She closed the locker door, and Emma put an arm around Jade's shoulder. She slowly began to lead Jade down the corridor.
“So, Jade. How's your crush on... him.” said Emma in mock disgust. Truth was... even though she made out like she hated Luke and didn't want anything to do with him because he was posion and this and that and the next thing, she was still in love with him. She'd been in love with him since that first night at BreadstiX. She loved him, and was certain it wasn't requited. When he declared his love for her at Sectionals... she just melted. Absolutely melted. By the time Regionals rolls around, she will have him back. Only one person is standing in her way: Jade.
“Fine, I guess.” she muttered. Emma dashed in front of Jade and dragged her by the hair into the choir room. Jade protested as Emma pulled, and she eventually just let Emma get her in the room. Emma gave Jade a fake smile, and led her to the centre of the room, before running off to sit in one of the plastic chairs. The choir room was filled with the New Directions Girls. Perry, Hayley, Naomi, Sarah, Jade, Emma, Gauri, Lena, Ali, Gina, they all sat in the chairs, looking at Jade. Jade gulped, and Emma began to rummage around near the back of the room. Slowly, at Emma's orders, the girls started to file around the back of Jade, forming a ring around her. Emma made a loud “aha!” noise from off in a corner, and pulled out a few sheets of paper. She quickly handed them out, and broke through the ring to stand with Jade.
“Look, sweetie, we all know, and we know you know that you know that we know that you're not really in love with him. It's a crush, dear. A lot of people get them on a lot of people.” explained Emma in a slightly hostile tone. Lena grunted at the end, and Emma continued, “anyway, even if you are in love with that man whore, we need to give you a Luketervetion. That's a Luke Intervention.”
“I know what it means.” said Jade, folding her arms.
“Anyway, we all want what's best for you, honey. So we're gonna sing this, and when you feel like it, feel free to join in. This song is for you, sweetie.” said Emma. The girls slowly began to vocalise the music, as Emma began to sing.
“Super trouper, beams are gonna blind me. But I won't feel blue, like I always do. 'Cause somewhere in the crowd there's you.” sang the New Directions Girls, as they twirled around Jade and Emma. Naomi and Sarah harmonized in the background while the rest of the girls sang in unison.
“I was sick and tired of everything, when I called you last night from Glasgow. All I do is eat and sleep and sing, wishing every show was the last show (the last show).” sang Emma, taking Jade's hands. She gave a warm smile, but the smile didn't reach her cold eyes.
“So imagine I was glad to hear you're coming. Suddenly I feel all right, (And suddenly its gonna be). And it's gonna be so different.” sang Emma with the New Directions Girls. They danced in unison, making Jade laugh with their corny moves. “When I'm on the stage tonight!” sang Jade and Emma. The two turned round at the same time, and they flashed to the auditorium. Emma was wearing a silver pantsuit, that billowed out at her knees and elbows. She wore knee high silver boots, and had her hair behind her in a flawless sheet of chestnut. Jade wore the same, except in gold. The girls wore the same, and stood in formation so that it went gold, silver, gold.
“And when you get the chance...” sang Emma, pointing at Jade.
“ You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen. Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine. You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life, See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen.” sang Emma with the New Directions Girls as they circled Jade, pointing at her as she danced solo.
“You're a teaser, you turn 'em on. Leave them burning and then you're gone.” sang Jade.
“Shining like the sun. Smiling, having fun. Feeling like a number one.” sang Emma and Jade. The New Directions Girls danced again while the instrumental bit began. Emma and Jade walked down opposite sides of the stage, and walked up the steps.
“So I'll be there when you arrive.” sang Emma.“The sight of you will prove to me I'm still alive. And when you take me in your arms.” sang Jade. “And hold me tight.” sang Jade and Emma. “I know it's gonna mean so much tonight.” sang Emma and Jade with the New Directions Girls.
“See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen.” sang Emma, as Jade ran down the stairs, cartwheeling and running through the auditorium seats. The song drew to a close, and Sis Sylvester walked out from behind a curtain.
“Impressive ladies. Seems the toucan has some mooves.” said Sis. Jade instinctively covered her nose. “I came here to ask, can someone please tell me why in the hell the gay kid is on my cheerleading squad?” Sis looked directly at the cheerios in the glee club.
“Curry? Muslim Curry? Teenage lesbian? Slut in the making?” she said, calling out each of them as she walked past the four girls. She singled out Perry.
“Muslim Curry, I expect better from you. You are the tea-.”
“Ali's the captain, Coach.” said Perry, her voice full of malice. “She made the decision.” added Gauri. Lena nodded.
“Wait... why did you call me teenage lesbian?” asked Lena.
“You're not a lesbian? Wow, my social media must be really off today...” said Sis, pulling out her smartphone and examining it. “Hmm, I guess this brings up the amount of people Jack Wright has outed to two.” she shrugged and walked away.
“...w-what?” muttered Lena, her eyes wide. “Was I... Am I...” stuttered Lena, unable to make out any words. She ran out of the auditorium, and ran straight into Drew's chest.
“Lena! Watc- Lena, Lena? Lena why are you crying!?” he asked as he pulled her to the side of the corridor.
“He did it. Jack. He heard our conversation and how I have a crush on Jade and how I'm a lesbian and how she's crushing on Luke and he heard it and he knows and he told everyone. He told everyone. EVERYONE KNOWS NOW!” screamed Lena, tears flowing down her face. Drew hugged her tightly. He knew what it was like to suffer something like this. He pulled out of the hug, and looked into her puffy, red eyes.
“You will get through this. I did. You will get through it. I will do everything in my power to help you through this time, because I know that it is the most horrible thing someone can endure. I'm always here for you, always.” said Drew. Lena smiled, and hugged Drew.
“Well, I had to come out sooner or later.” she joked. Drew smiled, and they linked hands, and walked off and out of the school.

“Jade, Lena... I don't know... yeah, it seemed like a good idea at the time, but... I'm nervous.” groaned Drew for the 1000th time. Lena moaned and Jade facepalmed.
“Ohmygod Drew, do I need to go over this again? You are the best singer in there! You are the best performer in there! You are the hottest dude in there! You will kill this song, and you will get the guy, okay!?” shouted Lena.
“Hottest dude. Ha, easy for you to say...” said Drew, biting his lip insecurely. Lena sighed, and looked in him in the eye. She pressed her lips against his cheek, his other cheek, and then his forehead. Jade smiled, and put her arms around her best friend's neck.
“She's right, you're flawless.” she said, grinning. Drew smiled slightly. He always knew there was a reason he gravitated towards Jade, and why Lena and him seemed to hit it off right away. Drew was just meant to be their best friend. He loved them both. Like, a lot. They were his guardian angels.
“Okay, so, I'm gonna kill this song... but to extra-kill it, I'mma need you guys' help. Jade, Lena, can you be my backup singers for this song, pleaaaaase.” begged Drew. Lena smiled, and nodded. Jade seemed hesitant, but exclaimed she was just kidding; of course she would.
“Well, what song is it?”
“The song's perfect, Jade. It's actually perfect for the situation. The lyrics have so many meanings.”
“Well don't keep us in suspense!” exclaimed Lena impatiently. She gave a drum roll on her knees, and pointed to Drew.
“Does Your Mother Know?” said Drew, grinning.
“Does my mother know what?” asked Jade. Lena started laughing, and so did Drew. Jade was confused... but then she realized it was the name of the song, and also began laughing. When the three were quite finished, they entered the choir room. Drew saw Paul, and they locked eyes. Suddenly, all of Drew's self-confidence drained, and he turned on his heel and walked back out of the room. Paul's face fell.
“DREW FOR GOD'S SAKE, GET IT TOGETHER!!” screamed Jade. Drew's eyes widened.
“Okay, I guess I deserve that for earlier.” Jade nodded at Drew's words. “But I'm not doing it!” he shouted. Lena put her arm through the space between Drew's body and his left arm, Jade mirrored on his right. They both clamped Drew between them, and walked into the room despite him struggling against them.
“Oh, Drew, it's time for your response song!” said Kerwin. Drew bit his lip nervously, and looked out at his friends. Skyler gave him a wink, and Drew locked eyes with the new Paul. He averted his eyes instantly.
“Gosh, Mr. Dean.” said Lena. Kerwin shrugged, and handed Lena three mics. Lena handed one to Jade, to Drew and kept the final one for herself. Drew opened his mouth to sing, but no words came out. He tried to sing, he really did, but he kept looking at Paul and freaking out. Is this what stage fright felt like? If so, he hoped he'd never get it again. It was a horrible feeling of dread and he really just wanted to run away and hide. He turned, but saw Jade's eyes. He needed to do this... her look gave him a rush of confidence, and as he spun back round, the music sprung to life and Drew began to sing.
“You're so hot, teasing me. So you're blue but I can't take a chance on a kid like you. That's something I couldn't do.” sang Drew, his confidence beginning to rise. Lena and Jade shared a glance and Lena's heart fluttered as Drew walked towards Paul. He leaned down against Paul and began to sing, as Lena/Jade sang back up.
“There's that look in your eyes. I can read in your face that your feelings are driving you wild. Ah, but boy you're only a child.” sang Drew with Lena and Jade. Paul started clapping, enjoying the song. And to some degree the physical contact between him and Drew.
“Well I can dance with you honey. If you think it's funny, Does your mother know that you're out? And I can chat with you baby. Flirt a little maybe. Does your mother know that you're out?” sang Drew, while Lena and Jade began to dance. The two ran up to the couples of the club, Trae/Gareth, Gina/Skyler etc. and pulled them up to dance. Perry and Juan also danced, while Hayley danced on her own.
“Take it easy (take it easy). Better slow down boy.” sang Drew with Jade and Lena. Drew ran his hand down his leg and gave a sultry glare. Jade and Lena fanned themselves with their hands in the background. “That's no way to go. Does your mother know?” sang Drew with Jade. The two started to dance, as all of the girls jumped up and started dancing in formation behind Drew. “Take it easy (take it easy). Try to cool it boy.” sang Jade and Lena. The girls performed sexily and passionately, giving it all and everything. “Take it nice and slow. Does your mother know?”sang Drew with Lena. The girls dissipated so that only Lena, Jade and Drew remained. “I can see what you want. But you seem pretty young to be searching for that kind of fun.” sang Drew. Paul grinned and clapped along to the song. “So maybe I'm not the one. Now you're so cute, I like your style.” sang Drew with Lena and Jade. Lena and Jade ran up to Paul and laid a hand on his arms, pulling him onto the stage.
“And I know what you mean when you give me a flash of that smile (smile). But girl you're only a child.” sang Drew. Paul was pushed out to be next to Drew, and Drew grabbed his hand, and started to dance very quickly with him, spinning him around and lifting him in the air. “Well I can dance with you honey. If you think it's funny. Does your mother know that you're out?” sang Drew. Paul suddenly began to tense in Drew's arms. “And I can chat with you baby. Flirt a little maybe. Does your mother know that you're out?” sang Drew with Lena and Jade. Paul tensed even more. What did he mean by 'you're out'? Oh god... “Take it easy (take it easy). Better slow down boy.” sang Jade and Lena. “That's no way to go. Does your mother know?” sang Drew with Jade and Lena. “Take it easy (take it easy). Try to cool it boy.”sang Drew with Jade. Paul pulled away from Drew, and Drew let him go to dance with Jade, spinning her around under his arm. “Take it nice and slow. Does your mother know?” sang Drew.
“Well I can dance with you honey. If you think it's funny. Does your mother know that you're out?” sang Drew with Lena. Paul started to get upset, and ran out of the room. Drew's eyes widened as he started to run out after him. “And I can chat with you baby. Flirt a little maybe. Does your mother know that you're out?” sang Jade and Lena, because Drew had ran out after Paul.
“Paul!”
“That song was horrible, Drew. That 'you're out'? Do you know how much... how many things that could mean? Okay, vocally, it was fine... but... Drew.”
“I'm sorry, Paul. I wasn't thinking. I just... it sums up why I'm not totally on board for dating you.” said Drew. Paul raised an eyebrow, “Huh?”
“Does your mother know? I want to date you. I really, really like you, but... I'm worried about your parents.”
“Why?” he asked.
“Because, you come from a really strong Christian family and... I don't want to be chased down and killed for turning you gay.”
“You didn't tur-”
“You know what I mean. Look, because I really want to date you, and I'm fully prepared to put in the work for this one... I'll come to your house, and we'll tell your parents. Together.”
“No... they can't know. They don't need to know.” begged Paul. Drew looked at him sadly. “Think about it.” he said, walking away.

“Okay. We've done two songs, begged our respective halves of Draul to date each other, four days into the week. And still, nothing!” shouted Skyler, bashing his head off his hand. Jade laid a hand on his shoulder to stop him. He smiled at her. The four had assembled in the library, for another meeting of the 'Get Draul Together' club. A closed club, just for the four who needed a place to plot ways to get Draul together. And they couldn't use the library after school unless a club, so Lena came up with this.
“True. But, they did have a discussion in the hallway. I don't know what happened though.” added Jade.
“Exactly. But we do know that they aren't dating.” pointed out Danny. Jade bit her lip. There had to be some way they could get them together? Maybe a song... but ABBA? And they've already used the two that applied... but... AHA!
“Oh. My. God. I know it, I know it, I know it!” burst Jade. Lena clamped her hand over her mouth, while the librarian shouted “shhh!” Jade blushed, and Lena pulled her hand back.
“Tell us!” hissed Jade.
“Okay, okay. Well, we sing another so-”
“NO!” screamed Skyler, Lena and Danny in unison. Jade was stunned backwards, and finished her sentence.
“I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do.” she muttered, over and over.
“I Do what?” asked Danny.
“The song!” exclaimed Jade. “We'll perform that! We'll get Kerwin on our side and tell everyone EXCEPT Drew and Paul and then sing it to them!” shouted Jade excitedly. This was met by a silence from everyone in the circle.
“That's... not actually a bad idea.” congratulated Skyler. He gave Jade a hi five.
“Right. I'll text the populars.” said Danny, pulling out his iPhone. He quickly texted Gauri, Ali, Perry, Lena and Juan.
“Danny you realize I'm right here.” said Lena when the text sent.
“Oops.” blushed Danny. “I'll tell the others now.” said Lena.
“Jade and I will stay here and split up the song, Danny, you go and get Mr. Dean on board!” said Skyler, taking charge. Jade ran off to a computer and logged in, while Lena ran out of the library, followed by Danny. The printer spat out the lyrics, and Jade quickly brought them over to Skyler.
“Emma!” shouted Lena, “Tell everyone in Glee Club to get to the Choir Room now!” Emma was pushed aside as Lena ran straight past her. She bashed straight into Luke, and shouted the sentence at him, before taking off running. Eventually, everyone knew to be in the Choir Room. Jade, Skyler and Lena ran into the room to see Danny walk away from Mr. Dean, and give the three a thumbs up.
“Okay, guys. Jade, Skyler, Danny and Lena, you have the floor.” said Mr Dean when Sarah and Naomi ran in, making everyone in the room. Jade and Lena stood up, and stood at the left of the room. Danny and Skyler mirrored this, except on the right. Then, in time, the four spun round and transformed costume. They were now clad in ABBA worthy clothing, with silver and gold pant-suits and knee high boots. Even Skyler had gotten dressed up in a decently ruffled outfit for an ABBA hater. He kinda liked them now, after this week of making them more modern. The music started, and with the four turning so their back was facing the audience, Jade turned round to begin to sing.
“Love me or leave me.” sang Jade. Skyler then turned round while Jade spun back.
“Make your choice but believe me.” sang Skyler. He then walked out to the front of the audience with Jade, and took her hands. They looked at Drew and Paul. “I love you.” sang Skyler and Jade.
“I do, I do, I do, I do, I do.” sang Jade as the girls of New Directions filed down behind to her stand with her and Lena. Skyler walked back as the boys (albeit Paul and Drew) did the same.
“I can't conceal it.” sang Perry.
“Don't you see?” sang Hayley.
“Can't you feel it?” sang Ali. The three girls danced while the other girls took over. Drew laughed and Paul clapped. Drew understood the songs' meaning. Paul was beginning to realize what his friends were trying to say.
“Don't you too?” sang Emma.
“I do, I do.” sang Sarah, “I do, I do, I do.” sang Naomi.
“Oh, I've been dreaming.” sang Gina
“Through my lonely past.” sang Lena. “Now I just made it.” sang Gauri.
“I found you at last.” sang the New Directions Girls, all of them walking out in front of Drew and Paul, singing to them. Drew knew they were telling them to get together, Paul slowly realized this. Drew's hand snaked across the gap between them, and grasped Paul's hand. He looked up at Drew, surprised, and squeezed his hand back with a smile.
“So come on.” sang Skyler.
“Now let's try it.” sang Danny.
“I love you.” sang Gareth.
“Can't deny it.” sang Trae
“'cos it's true.” sang Juan.
“I do, I do.” sang Skyler, “I do, I do, I do.” sang Danny.
“Oh, no hard feelings.” sang Kerwin.
“Between you and me.” sang Luke.
“If we can't make it, but just wait and see...” sang the New Directions Boys. They walked in front of Drew and Paul, snaking in so that it was boy, girl, boy, girl. Drew smiled, and his arm snaked round Paul's waist, and he pulled him in tight. Paul was even more surprised, and suddenly understood the song.
“So come on, now let's try it, I love you, can't deny it.” sang Jade. “'cos it's true.” sang Jade with the New Directions. “I do, I do, I do, I do, I do.” sang the New Directions. “So love me or leave me, make your choice but believe me.” sang Skyler.
“I love you.” sang Skyler with the New Directions.
“I do, I do, I do, I do, I do.” sang the New Directions. Paul's arm slowly wrapped around Drew's shoulder, and his head came to a rest on his other shoulder, his head fitting in the crook of his neck perfectly.
“I can't conceal it, don't you see, can't you feel it?” sang Lena and Danny. “Don't you too?” sang Lena. “I do, I do, I do, I do.” sang the New Directions.
“I do.” said Drew, looking directly at Paul. Paul lifted his head, and looked straight into Drew's eyes.
“I do, I do, I do, I do, I do.” he repeated as he stroked Paul's cheek, and leaned in. The gap between them closed, and their lips pressed together.
“YAY!” screamed Jade, grabbing Lena's hands and jumping up and down. “Finally...” muttered Skyler, grinning at his friends. Danny clapped happily.
Drew pulled back from the kiss, and hugged Paul. Paul smiled and hugged back, as the school bell rang.

Gina stood in the auditorium. She wore a cream cardigan, made of cashmere and wool. Her hair was down in a sheet of blonde honeysuckle. Her eyes were beautifully brown, and her lips were full and red. She wore a knee length, cream skirt, which matched her jumper. Her shoes were her normal ones. She looked radiant. She reached into her pocket, and pulled out her phone. She dialled a number, and pressed 'call.' The call was instantly picked up.
“Hello?” asked the voice.
“Hi Skyler. It's Gina. Can you come to the auditorium?” she said, her voice sweet and happy. In such a contrast to when she'd first started school. Back then, when she was depressed, and she was a cutter and her parents were abusive. Now, her parents were back on track, and her cutting had stopped. It was all because of one person, one person who made her life perfect again. Skyler Parks. She had no clue what she'd do if he never came to the school. If he never moved out of Chicago and came to Lima. If she had never fallen in love with him, if he'd never have saved her.
“Sure, sweetheart.” replied Skyler. He hung up. Gina walked over to the curtain, and she pulled it a bit. The curtain fell, and landed on the floor. She observed the now exposed area. Her mind suddenly flooded with memories. That day when he called her here, and proclaimed his love for her. Back in Disney week. Sigh... Skyler was so perfect, and sometimes it seemed to Gina like she didn't deserve him. Like she didn't deserve anything she's got. She is lucky, very lucky. She's lucky that no one called her out for accidentally outing Drew. She's lucky that Jade and Drew don't hold a grudge against her for her ruining their friendship. She's lucky that Skyler stuck with her through the drama. She's lucky that Drew still likes her after everything she's done to him. Gina's been a bitch. It's time for her to show how nice she truly is, how appreciative she is of everything she has. First on the agenda, Skyler.
“Gina?” called his voice as he walked down the stairs of the auditorium. Gina smiled. “Skyler!” she shouted. She ran down off the stage and threw her arms around him. Skyler lost his balance and fell onto the floor. Gina laughed and Skyler also laughed. “What's with the sudden happiness to see me?” he asked. “Is something wrong?” he enquired, his brows knitting together. If something had happened to her...
“I'm okay, Skyler. Nothing's wrong... I just... Sometimes I think you hear me better when I'm not speaking.” she muttered. Her hand stroked her arm, running over the aged scars lining her inner elbow to her wrist. She sighed. Skyler's strong hands pulled her hand off her arm, and lifted her chin to look into her eyes.
“Listen, Gina. I love you. Okay? I don't care if you've been a bitch or you're dubbed one or anything like that. Honey, to me, you're flawless. Perfect in every way. I couldn't ask for a better girlfriend. I will always love you. No matter what.” said Skyler. A tear crawled into Gina's eyes as she turned away from Skyler.
“I know you love me. But I want you to know that you're all the world to me. You saved me Skyler. You saved my life. Without you... I would possibly be dead right now.” said Gina. Skyler bit his lip at the memory, as Gina turned behind the curtain and vanished.
“Gina?” called Skyler, “What are you doing?” he muttered as he went looking for her. Suddenly, the lights turned on, illuminating the stage. Skyler looked at the white area as Gina pushed another button backstage. Slowly, the ropes backstage raised and large foam letters were brought down from the ceiling. In bright, blue letters, it proclaimed “Skyler Parks, I love you” Gina stepped out from behind the curtain, beaming.
“Wow.” said Skyler. “Reminds me of Disney Week, actually.” he laughed. Gina smiled, and walked over to Skyler. She placed her hand on his, and he clasped it. The two sat down in the light, and Gina slowly began to stroke Skyler's face.
“I prepared something...” she murmured. Skyler raised an eyebrow, and stared attentively at the girl. “Show me.” he smiled. Gina readjusted her position, so that she was sitting crosslegged in front of her boyfriend. Slowly, the music of Thank You For The Music began to play.
“I'm nothing special, in fact I'm a bit of a bore. If I tell a joke, you've probably heard it before.” sang Gina, staring right into Skyler's eyes. They linked hands.
“But I have a talent, a wonderful thing. 'Cause everyone listens when I start to sing.” sang Gina. Skyler's hand stroked her cheek and down towards her neck.
“I'm so grateful and proud. All I want is to sing it out loud.” sang Gina. Skyler pulled away as Gina stood up, walking around Skyler in a circle.
“So I say... Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing. Thanks for all the joy they're bringing. Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty. What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music. For giving it to me.” sang Gina, dancing slowly around Skyler as he reached up to hold her hand. “Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk. She says I began to sing long before I could talk. And I've often wondered, how did it all start? Who found out that nothing can capture a heart. Like a melody can? Well, whoever it was, I'm a fan.” sang Gina. Skyler smiled at her. “So I say. Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing. Thanks for all the joy they're bringing. Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty. What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music. For giving it to me” sang Gina. She sat down in front of Skyler again, and pressed her lips against his, her hand pressing against his soft hair as his hand ran down her arm. “I've been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair. I wanna sing it out to everybody. What a joy, what a life, what a chance!” sang Gina, grinning and smiling as she kissed Skyler. She pushed him down so he was lying on his back. She lay down beside him. “So I say... Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing. Thanks for all the joy they're bringing. Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty. What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music. For giving it to me.” sang Gina, finishing the song. Her lips pressed against his as she rolled on top of him. She kissed him deeply, and he kissed back. His hand ran up her back and through her hair while she ran her hand up his leg.
“Skyler, I love you.”
“Gina... when I'm with you... everything just... I love you Gina. You're perfect. I never want to be with anyone but you.” said Skyler, pushing his lips against Gina's. She lay above him, looking into his eyes while her body pressed into him.
A fire of passion was lit between the two. A new passion. A passion neither had ever felt before.

“Are you sure about this? It's a big step...” said Drew.
“Positive. I love you, and I want to be with you. And I'm ready, I truly am. It doesn't feel rushed or forced... I'm ready, Drew.” said Paul. Drew turned round the corner of the street, his hand tucked neatly round Paul's shoulder. Paul smiled, and gave him a quick kiss on the nose. Drew smiled, as they approached Paul's house. It was a large, sandstone house. The walls were a mixture of bricks and chipplestone, making it look rather sophisticated. Seems Paul had rather well off parents.
Paul reached the gate, and quickly opened it, Drew followed, as they entered the garden. It was a smallish garden, with flowers growing around the outer edge. The grass was very green, and the sun shone in the sky. Not a single cloud littering the blue canvas. Paul quickly took off his messenger bag, and took out his keys. He went to put them in the lock, but his hands began to shake with fear about what he was about to do.
“Hey, hey. Paul, it's okay.” said Drew, as he rested his hands on Paul's to calm him down. Paul gave a sad smile and looked at the floor, before sliding the key into the lock. He turned it, and they entered the house. His mother, Theresa “Tots” Prescott stood in the dining room, setting out serviettes and glasses for dinner.
“Oh, Paul sweetie! How was schoo-” said Tots as she walked into the foyer to greet her son. She saw Drew, and her eyebrows raised. “You brought a friend!” she exclaimed, walking back into the kitchen to grab another serviettes and glass. She frantically prepared for the unexpected guest, when Drew stopped her.
“No need, Mrs. Prescott.” said Drew, “I'm only here to help Paul with something for a few moments.”
“Call me Tots, sweetie. And sure! Let me fetch my husband.” said Tots, running off upstairs, her high heels clattering off the floor with each step.
“Ohmygod Drew I can't do this homozygously.” said Paul, frantically pacing the floor. He was perspiring, and he constantly was wiping his sweaty palms off his trousers. He was in a panic.
“Paul! CALM. DOWN.” screamed Drew, placing his hands on his shoulders. Paul calmed down, and took a breath. Drew helped him cool down, while Tots came downstairs with her husband, Dr. Malfoy Daltreese.
“Hi, Paul's friend.”
“I'm Drew.” said Drew bashfully, “Hello, Dr. Prescott.”
“Please, call me Dr.MD.” he said, smiling.
“Okay, well, Paul and I have something to tell you both. You should probably sit down...” said Drew. Tots raised an eyebrow as she sat down in one of her elegant chairs, her husband followed suit. Paul's hand reached for Drew's, which he took strongly, keeping the other boy calm.
“Paul? What have you done?” asked Dr.MD
“Nothing, dad.” said Paul, moving closer to Drew.
“Okay, well, Paul and I... recently... got a lot closer, and well, some things have happened and... well, I guess you could say... we're dating.” explained Drew. Paul's eyes were screwed shut, waiting for his parent's reaction.
“Oh, Pauly... We expected better from you... we raised you so well...” muttered Paul's father.
“Dr. Prescott, are you implying being gay is wrong?”
“Oh, there's nothing wrong with gay people. Actually, I'm fine with my son being gay.” stated Tots, glaring at her husband. Paul smiled at Drew. It seemed like everything was going to work out well for the two!
“I shall allow this under one condition.” said Dr. Prescott. Paul's face fell, Drew looked at his father threateningly. If he did anything out of line or anti-gay...
“Paul, you shall be allowed to be gay... as long as you do not act on it. You may not hug boys romantically, you may not kiss boys, be close with boys or do anything non-platonic with a boy.” said Dr. Prescott calmly. His cool, grey eyes showed no emotion. Paul felt a tear crawl into his eyes.
“Fine.” said Paul, beginning to cry.
“Kindly, leave us. Me and my wife wish to talk.” said Paul's father, as Paul walked away, Drew trailing behind. They walked away from the house and onto the street and round into a park nearby. As soon as they were in the park, Paul took off running. Drew ran off after him.
“Paul! Wait!”
“They won't let us date!” screamed Paul, as Drew found him near the river.
“... Paul... we can still date.”
“No! No! We can't! After all of this work and songs and love and emotion we can't bloody date!” shouted Paul through tears.
“Paul. Listen to me.” said Drew, sitting down beside Paul, and placing an arm around him. “We're gonna date, okay. But... we aren't going to tell your parents. They don't need to know.” said Drew, encouragingly. Paul stopped crying for a second.
“Really?”
“Really.” said Drew, closing the gap between them with a loving kiss.

The members of the club stood in one row in the auditorium. Kerwin sat in the box, looking at them. Each member wore either a white flower in their hair or wore a plain, white necklace. The music began to fade in, Gina starting off the song, recognizable as I Have A Dream.
“I have a dream, a song to sing.” sang Gina. After she sung her line, she stood facing the front. Her beautiful hair was in a tousle around her shoulders and fell to her breast. She wore a white flower.
“To help me cope with anything.” sang Paul. He was at the opposite side of the line, turning round and facing front. His hair had started to grow back, and he wore a small smile on his face.
“If you see the wonder of a fairy tale.” sang Jade. She turned round, next to Gina. Her radiant hazelnut eyes contrasted the white clothing she was wearing, and the white flower.
“You can take the future even if you fail.”sang Skyler. He turned around, next to Paul. He smiled at his friend, and then at Gina. He then looked straight ahead, blending in with the rest.
“I believe in angels.” sang Naomi from the left hand side, next to Jade. Her blonde hair and her freckles matched her clothing perfectly.
“Something good in everything I see.” sang Danny from next to Skyler. He turned round, wearing pure white clothes and jeans. This week had been a good one, even if he hadn't seen Hinton.
“ I believe in angels.” sang Ali from next to Naomi. Her hair framed her face perfectly. She looked radiant.
“When I know the time is right for me.” sang Juan from next to Danny. He felt good about himself this week. He wasn't as depressed as he has been.
“I'll cross the stream.” sang Lena from next to Ali.
“I have a dream.” sang all members who were facing the front. They looked so uni-sonic. The New Directions that they loved being. They were a family. Nothing could break them.
“I have a dream, a fantasy.” sang Drew.
“To help me through reality.” sang Perry.
“And my destination makes it worth the while.” sang Luke.
“Pushing through the darkness, still another mile.” sang Gauri.
“I believe in angels.” sang Trae.
“Something good in everything I see.” sang Emma.
“I believe in angels.” sang Gareth. The six members who just sang stood facing the front.
“When I know the time is right for me.” sang Hayley.
“I'll cross the stream.” sang Sarah.
“I have a dream.” sang New Directions.
“I'll cross the stream – I have a dream.” sang Drew. Now that every member had a solo, six members stepped forward from the group. They were Drew, Paul, Jade, Lena, Skyler and Gina.
“I have a dream, a song to sing.” sang Lena.
“To help me cope with anything.” sang Jade.
“If you see the wonder of a fairy tale.” sang Skyler.
“You can take the future, even if you fail.” sang Gina.
“I believe in angels, something good in everything I see.” sang Paul.
“I believe in angels, when I know the time is right for me.” sang Drew. The six members returned to their spots, as each member linked hands with the one on their left and their right. They then moved into a circle. Gina smiled at Skyler, Paul gazed at Drew, Jade grinned at Luke who was glaring at Emma whom in turn was staring at Ali who was snarling at Gauri who was smiling at Hayley who was growling at Juan who was grinning at Perry who was looking at Lena. The group was perfect. Everyone was perfect.
“I'll cross the stream – I have a dream.” sang the girls.
“I'll cross the stream – I have a dream.” sang the boys.
In the audience, one Kerwin Dean stood up, and clapped. “Perfect guys. Perfect.” he congratulated. Everyone started hugging each other and smiling and laughing. This club truly was euphoric and amazing. Everyone loved everyone.

Paul was scrubbed up in his best suit. When his parents asked where he was going in that nice suit, he just replied church. That would explain why he was away for an hour or two, right? Oh well, doesn't matter. He smiled at the server of BreadstiX as she led him to a booth where he sat alone.
“Paul!” shouted Gina, as she ran towards the booth wearing her nice, baby blue dress which fell to her knee. Paired with a white cardigan and a white headband. Skyler accompanied her, wearing a dress shirt and jeans. The two sat down across from Paul in the booth. Gina slid along to the side, while Skyler stayed at the edge. The two looked at the menu, and conversed over what they wanted to order. Paul was lonely, and looked over his shoulder. Just to see Drew walk in.
He was radiant. A confused look on his face while he searched for Gina, Skyler and Paul. His hair was styled and different than usual, and he was wearing a chequered red shirt with blue jeans and trainers. He spotted Paul, who waved, and Drew came over, sitting down beside him.
“Hey guys!” said Drew as Paul planted a kiss on his cheek. The woman came over to ask their orders for drinks, to which Gina ordered her and Skyler a milkshake with two straws, which the woman wrote down with a wink. Paul ordered a coke and Drew also ordered a coke. The woman walked off with her notebook, and disappeared through a door into the kitchen.
“How are you?” asked Gina, addressing the table.
“Great!” exclaimed Skyler. “Hmph...” muttered Paul. “Good.” smiled Drew. Drew looked down at his knees, to see Paul's hand snake along the couch, and come to a rest on Drew's thigh. He looked up at Paul, and smiled radiantly. Paul gave a sultry wink.
Over at another table, Jade sat reading a menu while Lena sat in front of her biting her nails anxiously.
“Lena, seriously, what are you so nervous about? It's not like it bothers me that you're a lesbian.” said Jade, “Drew's gay, remember?” Lena smiled, and stopped biting her nails for a second. Jade decided on her order and discarded of the menu. She looked at Lena, who averted her gaze.
“Seriously Lena, what's wrong?” asked Jade.
“Jade... I've known this for a long... long time. But then you liked Drew and now Luke and I've never found the time to say it. So I'll say it now, while we're alone. Jade Richman, I'm in love with you.” blurted out Lena. The colour drained from Jade's face.
“I'm sorry. I have to go.” said Jade, picking up her coat and walking out of BreadstiX, leaving a heartbroken Lena to pick up the pieces of their friendship and deal with heartbreak. She glanced over at the window, and saw Luke and Emma sitting in another booth. Luke bit his lip, remembering the first time they were here; on valentine's day. Luke looked out the window, as did Emma, and suddenly words started to flow out of Luke's mouth.
“I don't wanna talk. About the things we've gone through. Though it's hurting me. Now it's history. I've played all my cards. And that's what you've done too. Nothing more to say. No more ace to play.” sang Luke. Emma looked at him, listening to the words.
“The winner takes it all, the loser standing small. Beside the victory. That's his destiny.” sang Luke with Emma beginning to join in.
“I was in your arms. Thinking I belonged there. I figured it made sense. Building me a fence; Building me a home. Thinking I'd be strong there. But I was a fool. Playing by the rules.” sang Emma. Luke listened to her words.
“The gods may throw the dice. Their minds as cold as ice. And someone way down here. Loses someone dear. The winner takes it all. The loser has to fall. It's simple and it's plain. Why should I complain.” sang Luke. His hand rested on the table, and Emma placed hers on top of it.
“But tell me does she kiss. Like I used to kiss you? Does it feel the same. When she calls your name? Somewhere deep inside. You must know I miss you. But what can I say. Rules must be obeyed.” sang Emma. It was eerie how true the lyrics were, especially in their situation.
“The judges will decide. The likes of me abide. Spectators of the show. Always staying low. The game is on again. A lover or a friend. A big thing or a small. The winner takes it all.” sang Luke and Emma, as they stood up from their booth and began to walk outside.
“I don't wanna talk. If it makes you feel sad.” sang Emma.
“And I understand. You come to shake my hand.” sang Luke.
“I apologize. If it makes you feel bad.” sang Emma.
“Seeing me so tense, so self confidence.” sang Luke.
“But you see...” sang Luke and Emma.
“The winner takes it all...” sang Emma, as she exited the building. She ran along the pavement while belting the note.
“The winner takes it all...” sang Luke, running in the opposite direction. He saw Jade off in the distance, and turned to see Emma running off in the distance. He could only be with one. He shifted left, then he shifted right. And he walked off in one direction, shouting after the girl.
